Ambassador of Sweden to Iran
Ambassador Peter Tejler is currently Sweden’s ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
His early diplomatic career includes postings in Prague, Damascus, Bonn, and at the MFA in Stockholm. 1991 he was appointed Head of the Foreign Minister’s Office. 1994 he was posted to Washington DC as Deputy Head of Mission. 1999 he went to Pakistan as Sweden’s ambassador. Since 2002 he was also non-resident ambassador to Afghanistan. 2003-2008 he served as Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Swedish MFA. 2008 he was appointed ambassador to South Africa and later also non-resident ambassador to Botswana, Namibia and Lesotho. At the same time he was his country’s Permanent Representative to SADC. Since 2012 he serves as Sweden’s ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He holds a MA in languages (Russian, Czech and German). He has also worked at the Swedish Institute in Stockholm as a translator from Czech to Swedish.
